WoW and WAR at the same time!?
I’ve been a bit absent from this site for a few days. Sorry about that. The latest changes to World of Warcraft have me playing my Shaman (ugh he needs better gear!) a bit. I wanted to see what was done. I’m liking the changes enough that I will probably be splitting my time between [...]

In RvR Obsessive Focus works fine. It’s a good mechanic that has a drawback to balance the benefit (with Obsessive Focus on my target, I can crit my target for almost 630dmg at level 12).
So, why does Obsessive Focus aggro mobs? It seems to me like it should not. Think about it, if my Sorceress becomes obsessed with a mob that is minding its own business, how does it know?
The way it is now, using Obsessive Focus in solo PvE is a bit disruptive; it doesn’t flow well with our skills and doesn’t make for a good flow of combat. The obvious time you’d want to use it is before you ever cast any damaging actions; right at the beginning of an encounter. Doing this now will cause the mob to attack, making it an undesirable action in solo PvE.
My suggestion, make Obsessive Focus a self buff instead of a debuff. Or, make it so the debuff doesn’t aggro. Compare it to the World of Warcraft Hunter’s Mark. They can use it before every fight and it does not cause the mobs to attack. In my opinion, that’s how Obsessive Focus should work as well.
Although… the 60 second cooldown probably disrupts solo PvE enough as is.
What do you think?

I completely agree with this, I have personally tried this and thus dont use it any more in PVE.
ReplyIt’s still good for hero fights inside of PQ’s! And probably in dungeons as well. Don’t rule it out completely, but don’t try to become accustomed to it in PvE either.
